The Moon both sister and mother of the earth, mirror of the Sun, it is the luminary that governs the night, takes care of men and manages organic biology (moon rules the sign of Cancer, gestation symbol, implying maternity, etc), it represents a facet of the Anima in jungian psychology.
The entire lunation cycle derives its meaning and its strength from the solar / lunar relationship seen geocentrically (see also the Lot or Part of Fortune), and it is a very important cycle to understand and support.
2 phases of this cycle are however specifically analyzed, the New Moon and the Full Moon.
Let us understand well, relative to the earth’s orbit, the Moon is evolving for half of its cycle, from the last quarter to the first quarter, between the earth and the sun, towards the inner Planets (Mercury and Venus), producing during the Conjunction with the Sun the New Moon.
For the other half of the cycle, it evolves from the first quarter to the last quarter, between earth and Mars, towards the outer Planets, social (Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) and transpersonal (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto), producing the Full Moon.
Symbolically and analogically this phenomenon has made men wonder since the dawn of time, and astrologers have studied it from the beginnings of astrology, the person, the human being, have to find the balance between these 2 phases.
