I Ching Hexagram 12: Standstill, astrological interpretation

I-Ching Category

Interpretation: At first glance, this image reflects a notion of “deterioration,” as it has now been some time since one situation has ended and we now are reaching the brink of decomposition, disintegration, and sedimentation. Immobilism takes over and fixes things in place.
In certain cases, this status quo will be favorable and desirable, and it may allow us to turn towards self-reflection, as it requests that an in-depth study and our receptiveness be developed so as to allow for better, more stable roots to be established later on.
On the other hand, it is important to avoid getting bogged down and avoid anything that may, in extreme cases, hold us back too much and lead us to become stuck in old patterns.

Astrological points to pay attention to: The main astrological symbolism present here points to the fixed signs and houses (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius and the 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 11th houses), which often represent forces that hold us back and crystallize or freeze things, especially when the goal is to maintain security and stability.
The notions of deterioration and sedimentation may lead the forces of Pluto to become directly involved (as these forces are highly connected to “decomposition”), as well as the forces of Saturn in terms of its time-related component, especially if this stagnation lasts for a long time and gets drawn out (since by definition, something that is stagnant tends to stay around for some time).
We may encounter certain “minor” astrological aspects, which in a way represent transitory states between two important changes, such as the Quincunx, Sesquisquare, or Semisquare, especially if this stagnation is accompanied by some degree of tension.
It is important to monitor your overall Earth values on a deeper level, because whatever is being requested on a fundamental level may be centered around having more security and a need for stability, durability, and a goal of making things last in a long-term way.

Remarks: This hexagram represents contact with the ground, weight, support, and solid foundations, such that we search deeply for what we need in order to hold firm.
