Here, we are talking about the overall energies when the axis of the lunar nodes lies in Taurus/Scorpio or in the 2nd/8th houses, which absolutely need to be nuanced based on your birth chart and its various karmic factors; see also the article on the general interpretation of the Lunar nodes.
They represent a karmic axis of the highest importance, linked directly to your triangle of incarnation, and they symbolize both the innate, fundamental parts of yourself that you have mastered (the south node in the 2nd House / Taurus) and the pathway of your development during this incarnation (the north node in the 8th House / Scorpio).
They stay in each axis of signs for about one and a half years, which is what gives them their more general, “generational” archetypal colors; their positions in houses are more meaningful in terms of giving depth to your personality, and this is what should be analyzed as a matter of priority, while the analysis of signs will clarify their mode of action.
Karmic Work with Attachment/Detachment
The axis of the south node in Taurus / the north node in Scorpio or of the south node in the 2nd house / the north node in the 8th house is the axis of possessions. It directly highlights work that these people need to do on “attachments” and the way that they value things, and in doing so it may put these people more directly face to face with notions of losses and destruction during their incarnation, favoring forces of detachment, renunciation, and letting go.
The foundations of the south node are particularly safety-oriented and hard-working/strong>; with Venus as their karmic ruler, they have a need for contact with substance, the earth, and reality, for an appreciation of life through the senses, and for a feeling of possessing and belonging.
Work, comfort, and the need to feel a sense of belonging are very important, and since this influence is earth-based and fixed, it may be extremely deeply rooted in the personality and thus more difficult to shift and change.
For that, these energies often need to be forcefully confronted with external influences that basically have the goal of shaking everything up, breaking everything, and questioning everything so as to be able to create change, even violently so.
This axis may directly and intrinsically highlight a very significant “crisis of values,” as Venus represents the entirety of our system of values, things, people, and even ourselves, and we have to redetermine our priorities over the course of this incarnation and figure out what to forego, consciously or unconsciously: that is, which abandonments will be necessary in order to be “less weighed down” moving forward!
This is very connected to the Plutonian alchemical process of Calcinatio, which is represented in opposition by the north node. It represents this acidic, intense inner fire that comes in and corrodes things, especially in order to reorganize them, rid them of any residue that has become useless, and keep only that which is essential.
It will often be necessary during these people’s incarnation to work on this once or even several times: they think that they have reached a safe, stable place, they become attached to something to the point of making it the center of their life, and then fate causes some problem to arise or some great wave (which may be Uranian, Saturnian, or Neptunian) to come and shake up the whole house of cards and require that these people rebuild afterwards in a different way.
Overall, it will be important to analyze the power of all of the fixed energies in these people’s birth chart, because clearly the more solidified these energies are and the more intensely they keep coming back, the more difficult this pattern in their birth chart will be to live with and sublimate (because these people will try to “retain,” “conserve,” and cling to old things, the past, and that which is no longer and can no longer exist)!
And conversely, the various mutable forces present may be very useful, as they will add a very welcome dose of flexibility and adaptability and also give these people the necessary learning abilities for them to be able to “remember the mistakes of the past” and find a less harsh and less violent path that will allow them to evolve (and consciously move with the flow of change).
With Pluto as the karmic ruler of the north node, this may create a need to perform a very significant karmic “purge” during this incarnation, as this planet represents energies of metamorphosis, transformation, and death/rebirth, and this is possible only if these people develop a “psychologically intense” framework, which is likely to be expressed only through Depression and anxiety (these phenomena should be understood as major phases of evolution).
On some level, this may put people more directly face to face with a “security/freedom” or “matter/spirit” duality, which also depends on how the other energies of the person’s birth chart are expressed (take a look at earth/water), but what is absolutely certain is that these people’s earth side will have to work on opening up and questioning things, and this will tend to be expressed more easily in a context of “risk-taking” (which may be either voluntary or involuntary).
The more these people can effectively and “consciously” express this evolutive pattern by understanding the evolution that is required and deliberately allowing it to take shape, the more “awakened” they will be when it comes to their karmic fulfillment and this pattern, and therefore the less these forces will express themselves in a violent, involuntary way.
In essence, it is thus necessary for these people to consciously move with the tide of the death/rebirth that they want to carry out and be sure to ask themselves the right questions: What are my greatest doubts, my greatest fears, the worst things that could happen to me, and the things that could lead to a feeling of insecurity, loss, and abandonment?
Based on the answers, these people could work on attaining spiritual growth and wisdom and on renouncing what needs to be renounced. For this work, visualization techniques may be very useful, so that people can “virtually” or mentally put themselves in these conditions and analyze their reactions; these practices are not easy for taurine earth energies, but they may help when it comes to understanding the ways in which these people could expand their mindset in a positive way.
Plutonian energies actually represent psychological forces and psychoanalytical work, in the proper sense of the word, and they may be linked to occult, esoteric paths and to anything that requires revealing that which is initially hidden. This may really be the essential work that needs to be done during this incarnation: finding that which needs to be revealed, digging beneath the apparent stability, placidity, and durability of Taurus, understanding what is truly at play, and learning who holds the true reins of power over us.
And on some level, this north node requires that people actually find this true power and embody it themselves once again, and it may be expressed in different ways depending on the degree to which their birth chart is actually being lived out: materially, socially, affectively, emotionally, or more spiritually if it is possible to get in touch with the Absolute.
The various transpersonal forces should of course be analyzed in terms of this last point, as they may allow these people to determine which of the different qualities of sublimation will be expressed here, and they may if necessary be factors that facilitate the process of renunciation; the quest for meaning that these forces may give rise to will be very useful when it comes to consciously expressing the various rebirths that are necessary after destruction. As a wise man once said, “What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.”
Forces of cooperation and sharing may be important to develop as well, since they allow us to put our losses into perspective, understand that we won’t take our gold ingots to paradise, and realize that often once material losses have occurred, all that is left is loved ones, friends and family, those with whom we can share resources, those whom we have already lent things to, given to, or exchanged with, and those who may return the favor if need be, help us get back in the saddle in turn, and make us become aware of our subtle forms of interdependence.
It is important, however, to beware of money or of any “value” that is earned “too easily” (including people who are easily won over or seduced) or that is likely to be affected by a stroke of bad luck that could happen just as quickly!
The various planets that form aspects these lunar nodes may specify the manner in which this axis of possessions is expressed and the nature of the potential forms of ease or difficulty that may be encountered, as well as the degree of independence or dependance that may be experienced.

Definitely yes. Thx for reminding the interdependence and letting go of the mundane pleasure attachment
Wow interesting statements about the fixed aspects of a chart vs the muteable. My chart is nearly all fixed. Several elements of this post resonate- I strive to practice detachment and minimalism. I have also been outcasted in a variety of scenarios. It’s so painful but taught me independence. My nn is 8H Aries. I also have Pluto on an angle. This was quite imformative I’m sure I will revisit several times
Thank you very much for your testimonial 🙂
Remarkably accurate
Thanks 🙂
