It’s a question here of the global energies of Venus in Aries or in 1st House which it’s imperative to nuance according to your birth chart, see the article Venus in signs; see also the article on the general interpretation of Venus.
The planet Venus is one of the attributes of the Anima in the chart, as such it can indicate a Projection of it.
It informs on the woman side, pole of attraction, lover, but also on our system of valorization (affective and material), on our relational base to the others and to the world, on our artistic dimension, it manifests qualities to the colors of the occupied sign. See Venus in a man’s birth chart for the specific influence of this planet on the Animus.
Venus in Aries : entrepreneurial, passionate, and fickle
This is undoubtedly the most antagonistic, Martian sign for this planet to be, as it’s in its detriment rather than its domicile, Libra (see Rulerships), and is thus dominated by Mars.
Venus in Aries people are thus in some ways quite “masculine” in their behavior, very direct, frank, and bold. They do not hesitate to start up a conversation, flirt, and take the first step when they like someone. This planetary position makes people emotionally independent, but also, somewhat selfishly, very focused on their own emotional needs. These people want us to look at them, and they want to seduce and be seduced, often at the risk of pushing their partner’s needs to the background.
Venus in Aries leads these people to give off a simple, innocent, subtle, and deceitfully naive charm, and they can have a somewhat childish side. They are very impatient, wanting everything immediately, preferably “the Greatest Love in the entire Universe”, as this sign can be quite excessive.
These people need to let loose a large amount of energy on a daily basis. Very dynamic, and constantly active, they thus have relationships that are heavily influenced by Fire. On the other hand, as a result they have a tendency to get out of relationships that are too “cumbersome”, too paralyzing, lacking in intensity, too hazy, or that force them to stifle their individuality for the sake of the “couple”. They like to be validated for their individuality, and their ego feels the need to be reassured that it is valued.
Having Venus in Aries makes people very combative ! They prefer to seduce and charm people, rather than waiting passively for a partner. They are much more comfortable playing games of seduction than falling into an unpleasant routine of being in a couple, which they tend to avoid. Also, the secret to making a relationship last for them lies in constant seduction; they need to seduce their partner on a daily basis and to be seduced by them so that the relationship remains constantly “fresh like it was on the first day”, with an aspect of novelty. Venus in this position is very demanding and needs to be surprised and stimulated regularly and in various ways : these people are practically looking to have a constant flame of passion.
It’s necessary to try to have a sort of constant game going in order to keep them around, and to try to give them the impression that they are “moving”, to be frank, spontaneous, and honest, and to create a playful sense of understanding where this game is truly an integral part of the couple’s interactions. These people have a hard time getting older; they frequently keep a passionate fire of youth burning within them even as their age.
It’s necessary to both give them the initiative and, at the same time, make their life difficult in some way so that they feel like they have some sort of opposition which they need to defeat, which allows them to test their strength and triumph in this romantic competition. The fact that they have been chosen from among several other competitors will significantly make them feel significantly more confident and in love.
The risk with Venus in Aries (somewhat like with Venus in Scorpio, the secondary sign that Mars rules over) is that it may take over and cause their relationship to wallow in a constant power imbalance. Since they ask their partner to consistently use a firm hand but also want to assert themselves all the time, they may end up only feeling fulfilled once they are in the midst of a conflict that they themselves created, even in the best-case scenario. This leads to relationships where one person is dominant, which may end up destroying their partner (Venus in Aries people have trouble keeping themselves in check), or, over time, the game may simply become tiresome. People with Venus in Aries also have a tendency to move very quickly on to something new and different without all the usual formalities. Today’s passion is not always the same as tomorrow’s passion, and their partners need to be aware of their fickle nature.
Venus in Aries people are thus enthusiastic, very intense, very warm, and sometimes unpredictable. They have a need for spontaneous affection and physical contact, and it is often difficult to resist if you are one of their targets. They are drawn to fierce emotionality, they believe in love at first sight, and their feelings can turn somewhat violent or destructive when they are in love.
In terms of money, they have complex tendencies, and have so much trouble channeling their impulses that they are very often compulsive. At worst, they may feel the need to satisfy all of their passing fancies. They also tend towards impulse buying of “must-have novelties”, rather than strictly managing their money and their possessions, and they may become disinterested just as quickly.
These people also put their energy into art. They boldly innovate, take risks, put themselves in danger of disobeying social conventions, and want to differentiate themselves. They are more or less at ease in iconoclastic spheres, where originality and quirkiness are valued.
Venus retrograde in Aries
Retrograde motion very much tones down the energy described above, making it more shy and internal. Passion and fire are still very much present, but hidden, more subtle, and less direct. These people’s ingenuous side is accentuated, as well as their sensitivity, and they are very careful and defensive. They may be very afraid of being rejected, getting involved, taking the first step, and revealing their true selves in romantic contexts.
