Well, the title of the article is a bit presumptuous, because no one can date the Age of Aquarius with any certainty… 🙂 And I won’t try to make a special dating of this one here, but I give you a few thoughts as an aside.
We know, naturally, that it’s clearly a major Astrological conjunction in the sky, both in personal astrology and in the cycles of society, it marks the union of the principles of expansion and contraction, and thus opens a social cycle of almost 20 years…
This said, this conjunction of social giant planets is also to be placed in very long generational elemental cycles of mundane astrology.
These planets have formed all their previous conjunctions since 1842 exclusively in Earth signs, starting with Capricorn.
The previous elemental cycle of these social planets involved Fire and it was gradually completed from about the year 1782 by Sagittarius, Virgo in 1801 (the Earth was beginning to emerge) and then by Aries in 1821.
The first elemental turn took place for Air already in 1981 with the previous conjunction in Libra, then there was Earth again with Taurus in 2000 (closing the earth cycle) and at the end of 2020, therefore, the exact conjunction will be present on the very beginning of Aquarius.
This opens up a broad new elemental cycle of Air until the year 2160, which will begin to break the rhythm of this cycle gradually (with a conjunction in Scorpio), even if it will be necessary to wait until 2219 to switch to the elemental cycle of Water.
Certainly this cycle of Air of the social planets does not necessarily prejudge the Age of Aquarius itself, on the other hand it will emphasize more directly a dynamic of elemental air energy within the social sphere, therefore Mercurian, Venusian, and Uranian, which may form a particular resonance for, in one way or another, “preparing this age”.
In addition with the transit of Pluto which will also start in Aquarius soon and which will be a “background” transit, important, I will have the opportunity to discuss it again, remember that the previous entry of this planet in this sign dates from around 1778 (we fall back on the previous elemental change of the Jovian and Saturnian cycles that I mentioned above) and therefore signed historically, the French Revolution, the astronomical discovery of Uranus, the rise of capitalism and the Modern Industrial Revolution, including the gradual expansion of electricity (which was a major revolution that we talk about very little nowadays, so much we take it for granted).
These elemental cycles can be analyzed a bit like those of the Moon of solar return, except of course that this one has a pace that lasts one year, while this Jupiter / Saturn cycle has a “generational” pace that lasts about 20 years !
In any case it’s clear that this rare celestial phenomenon of conjunction of the social planets should always be analyzed more closely, meaning also on a personal level in your birth chart :
- spot the early February / March / April 2020 configuration because it corresponds to the very energetic stellium that formed in the sky in Capricorn on the plutonian forces : it’s the kick that starts all the deeper, longer-term social changes
- spot again from the end of December 2020 to January 2021 where the precise conjunction of these planets falls in your sky, and what drives the Uranian wave that is taking place, because what is at stake there may form a seed for the next 20 years
For those who would like to deepen the symbolism of this conjunction, there is a book that is not well known and I don’t talk about it much, but which is particularly interesting, it’s “Jupiter / Saturn. Conference lectures on modern astrology” by Liz Greene and Stephen Arroyo, which is actually a transcript of astrological conferences that took place during this previous conjunction of these planets in Libra in 1981, it’s therefore both an astrological testimony but also the testimony of an age, with its ideals, its expectations, its prejudices, its utopias, important data to better understand “the time”…
Clearly, we can say that the 1980s brought humanity into an “era of communication”, and it really exploded : minitel, then internet, multiplication of medias, increase in the power of computers, development of social networks, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, reality TV and so on, smartphones explosion, and all this in less than 40 years !
I confess that I am a little afraid to imagine what 2 centuries can give at this rate, especially since this development of communication has not often been for the best either : massive propaganda of the states, as well as of the consumer society, endless and totally sterile media and political palaver, psychologization and infantilization of the masses, excessive peopolization, reign of appearance and falsehood, often indecency, miserabilism, vulgarity, ultraviolence, massive explosion of pornography, with in parallel, a solitude of the individual in reality that has never been so present, a society so individualistic that over the decades it has destructured everything that could form its social cement, what a strange contrast really is…
Perhaps the lesson of this cycle will be for the individual, once they are alone at home, managing their 50 social networks and 2000 virtual friends, in the simple rediscovery of silence and loneliness, of inner communication ? (for the following Jovian and Saturnian water cycle)
Or else in a transhumanism that will see the fusion of the personality in the “cloud” thanks to a chip in the brain, in the “Big Everything”, increasing the disconnection from reality, who knows ?
