This lunation chart was drawn up at the exact moment of the Sun / Moon conjunction on December 30, 2024, it gives the “general” astral trends for the coming month mainly based on the Aspects and Signs of the zodiac.
This study must be nuanced by bringing it closer to your birth chart, and to your Transits and Progressions for Forecasts.

Main signs impacted during the lunation:
All the Cardinal signs seem to be more strongly affected by the period.
High receptivity, passive-aggressive mix
For this very last New Moon of 2024, the period is still quite marked by the mid-term Martian retrograde motion between the beginning of Leo and the end of Cancer, which was initiated at the beginning of this month of December, and which tends to slow down the forces of action and affirmation, and to call for more reflection and analysis, as I’ve already discussed in a dedicated post.
This can be quite “sticky” for some people, who have to deal with delays, setbacks and confrontations, perhaps with the need to rebel, to go against what we’re used to doing and thinking. People who are very marked by Fire in their birth chart are likely to feel this more strongly as a hindrance, something sclerotic.
On the other hand, being a contrarian can pay off handsomely during this period! Being where you’re not expected to be, going against your prejudices, can also be part of what these retrograde Martian energies are calling for.
Especially if you’re faced with a person or situation that tries to impose domination or constraint on you, you have all the energy you need to fight against it in the medium term (whether at work, at home or emotionally).
This will be more acute throughout the first half of the lunation, when Mars retrograde will be very insistent in frank opposition to Pluto in Aquarius.
We also see quite a few Neptunian forces activating during this period, whether with Venus moving into Pisces, or Mercury moving rapidly back into Sagittarius after its recent retrograde motion, and forming a square with Neptune in Pisces (there’s a mix of predominance between earth and water, more passive forces).
This may confirm a certain confusion to be managed over the period, with more difficulty in thinking clearly, a propensity to delude oneself, worry, or difficulties in being realistic, much in an exacerbation of emotional sensitivity and receptivity (which may mark the whole first half of the lunation, so the very beginning of 2025 too).
The first quarter, around January 06, 2025, begins to form a Grand Cardinal Cross, with Sun Capricorn, Chiron Aries, Mars Cancer and the Black moon Libra, while the Moon is conjunct Chiron, which may already support some self-confidence wounds (this pattern will return differently for the last quarter).
The full moon on January 13, 2025 is right on Mars retrograde, underlining the opposition to Pluto, and may exacerbate mechanisms of confrontation, exposure and revelation (perhaps because you need to defend yourself, challenge, rebel).
The second half of the lunation appears to be calmer and more harmonious than the first, and can be useful for mediation, conciliation, finding peace, common ground, and so on.
It also has energies that can be harnessed more strongly at the creative, and above all always receptive, level, which can be interesting for people with an artistic bent, or whose activity depends directly on the emotional world, devotion, caring for and helping others, etc.
Be careful around January 20, 2025, for the decreasing square of the Moon (last quarter), the risks of relational and emotional tensions are greater, and may bring back to the front issues raised in the first quarter.
We can see that there’s a more exact Grand Cross in the sky, with Mercury Capricorn, Chiron Aries, Mars Cancer and the Black moon in Libra, itself enhanced by the Moon’s transit in the same sign, where either someone will say something that’s hard to hear and digest, or where we ourselves may say things that go beyond our thoughts to the other person, being spontaneous but going too far, being sharp and breaking (there may be a breaking aspect here).
It can really be a matter of a few days at most, or even just a few hours, depending on the people involved, the time it takes for the pattern to form, which implies a certain rapidity and transience, so don’t over-interpret it either, but it can still mark the end of the lunation, depending on the people concerned, and especially on the Cardinal dominants…
