The planet Saturn will enter Aries around May 25, 2025, its sign of fall, and will exit just under 3 years later, around April 13, 2028.
The fact that it is in its fall in this sign is not ideal for the natural energies of this planetary function (see astrological dignities and rulerships), as it can weigh more heavily on the Martian Fire of personal assertion (thus affecting self-confidence) and may introduce certain introverted forces, but also demand a test of maturity or responsibility.
The key point marking the beginning of this transit is, of course, the conjunction Saturn forms with Neptune at the beginning of the sign (first decan) during late spring and early summer 2025, which is likely to significantly influence the dynamics of this entire three-year Saturnian transit (see my thoughts on the transit of Neptune in Aries).
Historical Saturn/Neptune Conjunctions
The Saturn-Neptune conjunction begins in 2025 but will likely continue to develop through 2026. It’s as if, by marking the start of this transit, it sets a foundational tone that could last even until its transition into Taurus (especially since this Saturn transit will not feature many other major contacts).
Understanding what is at play during this period is crucial and could greatly influence this Saturnian cycle.
For reference, the previous conjunction of these two planets occurred in March 1989 in Capricorn, coinciding with the proximity of Uranus in conjunction as well.
Two major events marked the world during that time:
+ The first was the official advent of the internet and the launch of various websites.
+ The second, more political, was the fall of the Berlin Wall in November, though whispers of this change were already felt in Eastern Europe’s communist countries as early 1989.
In global astrology, Neptune is directly linked to communist and socialist influences, so countries heavily shaped by these doctrines —whether historically or currently— could be more directly impacted by the renewal this 2025 conjunction may bring.
Economically, the “cold” nature of these two planets tends to generate recessive forces, as seen during the recession of 1990-1991, following the U.S. savings and loan crisis (a precursor to the 2008 subprime crisis, which also involved mortgage issues).
Before the 1989 conjunction, the prior Saturn/Neptune conjunction took place in 1952 in Libra, marking the early intensification of the Cold War between the U.S. and the USSR, which lasted until the fall of the Berlin Wall…
The last Saturn transit in Aries occurred from April 1996 to March 1999, providing an idea of what might have been awakened in your own birth chart during that time.
What to Expect on a Personal Level?
In personal astrology, much depends on what Neptune and Saturn represent in your birth chart.
Neptune is not an easy planet to fully grasp; it often acts unconsciously in many charts and doesn’t come with a “user manual,” unfortunately (it requires certain awakenings through cycles).
The good news is that Saturn can compel some realism, urging greater acknowledgment of these forces during this period, emphasizing the “matter/spirit” or Earth/Water duality, and asking for reconciliations.
You might find it helpful to analyze what happened around April 2022, when Jupiter conjoined Neptune, to understand what this conjunction might have awakened in you (it may relate to a Neptunian awakening), as the Saturnian conjunction of 2025/2026 might compel materialization and concretization of these elements.
If you already have strong Neptunian energies in your birth chart and a good innate connection to these forces, the Saturn conjunction might bring pragmatism and realism, allowing for a more material or professional application of these energies (which can be beneficial for career transitions, aligning with a vocation, or adding a new skill professionally).
If, on the other hand, Neptunian energies are vague for you, difficult to understand or express, or largely unconscious in your personality, this conjunction may not counteract that entirely. Instead, it could manifest materially through confusion in work, social roles, or finances (effects might also be delayed, becoming more pronounced in 2026).
I’ve received numerous accounts from consultations where people struggle to grasp the concrete implications of this conjunction, which is entirely normal given the planets involved and the points discussed here.
The best advice in such cases is to take the time to truly evaluate your Neptunian function using the introspective way, to see if there’s anything to unlock or if this conjunction will manifest in a more passive/receptive way for you.
Progression of Saturn’s Transit in Aries
The Saturn/Neptune conjunction of late spring and early summer 2025 will primarily affect the first decans of Cardinal and Fire signs, so if you have birth influences in these areas, you might feel more directly impacted.
Note that the conjunction won’t be exact in degrees; the closest approach will occur in mid-July 2025 (Saturn at 1°56 and Neptune at 2°09).
However, what is also important is that this conjunction occurs as both planets are at the end of their respective transits and even retrograde during this period! (further compounded by their square to Jupiter’s transit at the start of Cancer).
This suggests that the conjunction might lack dynamism during this period, offering only a brief period in June 2025 to initiate momentum, while the rest of the summer will serve to integrate what was triggered then (Saturn will even retrograde back into Pisces in September 2025).
The bulk of the Saturn/Neptune conjunction’s energy will occur in early 2026, becoming exact around February 20 and fully materializing (the New Moon of February 17, 2026, might be particularly significant in this regard, and I will write a dedicated post on it).
This conjunction is likely to provide a medium-term impulse that could last for several years and should not be overlooked in this context.
Around May 8, 2026, Saturn moves into the second decan of Aries, potentially affecting the second decans of Cardinal and Fire signs more strongly, though without forming major aspects with the rest of the sky for several months.
It’s not until April 2027 that Saturn and Jupiter, the two social planets, form a harmonious trine, marking an important and harmonious phase of Saturn’s transit through Aries, particularly during spring and early summer of that year.
By late April 2027, Saturn enters the third decan, so it is primarily this decan that will benefit from the trine’s harmony (until late July 2027).
Otherwise, Saturn won’t form any other major aspects in the sky until it transitions into Taurus…
As mentioned earlier, this Saturn transit doesn
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, there aren’t necessarily any major configurations around this Saturnian transit in this period, but we mustn’t neglect the dynamics of the conjunction with Neptune, which will probably have a major impact on this cycle, and which we should therefore try to accompany as consciously as possible. 🙂
