These are global energies of uranus in Aquarius or in 11th House that must be nuanced according to your birth chart, see the article Uranus in birth chart; see also the article on the general interpretation of Uranus.
The planet uranus is one of the attributes of the Animus in the chart, as such it can indicate a Projection of it, in particular more especially the intellectual projections on “social entities” (political party, club, syndicate, nation, church, etc), all that concerns more directly the affirmation of the spirituality and the social vision of the native…
It informs about our need for freedom, independence, to go towards the new, to break the Saturnian framework, and to tend towards our deepest ideals. It materializes our intuition, it electrifies us, it questions everything that is too conventional.
The planet fundamentally represents an evolutionary breaking point, of revelation, of creation.
As Uranus stays for about 7 years per sign, its position in houses is more meaningful for the personality. The energy of the sign gives above all an elemental background coloring common to a generation, which will apply more personally to the area of life signified by the house. Therefore, focus first and foremost on the house affected, as the sign gives a background tone.
A powerful vision of the collective
In this position in the heavens, Uranus is in its domicile, and so is very comfortable and very powerful. It has moved beyond the culmination of the social hemisphere and become fully integrated into the collective, so to speak, which is the fruit of its prior investments in terms of seeking out recognition. Here, its social side demands that it be allowed to fully assert itself.
This may give rise to people who have quite brilliant, visionary minds and who are ahead of their time in their field, mixing originality, audacity, and impulsiveness, which makes them very iconoclastic and even revolutionary.
It’s very difficult to make these people fit into a box, as they are constantly searching for freedom and independence, even excessively so. They feel the need to work in various fields (we may find that they are often revolutionaries, separatists, and “multitaskers”), and they may find it difficult both to become attached and when others become attached to them; they generally keep their distance and appear cold or indifferent.
On the other hand, while this planet may have had certain energies of structure when in Capricorn/the 10th House, this is not at all the case here (unless the planet is retrograde, which would give it some of these energies), and on the whole in this position this planet is likely to be extremely unstable, volatile, and even violent.
This may translate into high levels of nervousness or changeability, for example leading people to start many different things at once but then have trouble finishing them.
In addition, people may have much more anxiety if they cannot find ways of consciously expressing this planet, and this may cause them to very quickly become marginalized and become eccentric, and lead to various psychological issues or Depression (ranging for example from panic disorders to psychotic episodes to various disorders with mental instability, like Van Gogh, for example, who was influenced by having this planet in this position).
Contact “with a group” may be especially important for these people’s incarnation. Whether it be through friendships, networking, associations, or unions, these people’s social connections are always very important to them, and they are always showing up to things unexpectedly.
With Uranus in the 11th House / Aquarius, people’s humanistic, altruistic side may be highlighted, and they are extremely open-minded and may feel a deep need to change the world as they see it so that it’s more as we would want it to be.
These energies give people the need to feel that they are part of a clan or a brotherhood, and they would rather create their own family, with a kind of community of ideas, instead of staying close to their biological family, who they may find to be hard to put up with, and whom they never really chose anyway.
The good thing about these sorts of energies is that they may lead to very strong “forces of cohesion,” sort of like there were in Spartacus’s army, such that we may find that these people stand side by side with people who may come from highly varied backgrounds that are completely different from their own ! But they really like this mixture of people, and feel both as though they are the centerpiece of the whole system and that they draw great strength from all of these differences.
They may also of course be very comfortable with uranus’s domains, which include novel technology, computer science, motors, communication, and even astrology, as well as certain paranormal subjects. These things may be useful to them in one way or another as they work towards their social self-realization.
Unfortunately though, socially speaking, these people may be incredibly extreme in certain ways. Their highest highs may easily and quickly get all mixed up with their lowest lows, and it’s not rare for them to have a sudden stroke of bad luck or some sort of “social intrigue,” where for example people who are friends one day become enemies the next.
It’s important to note that it can be hard to follow people with this position, as their cyclothymia may dominate them, and so people may not really know where they stand with them. They may also frequently get into fights, and new friends may sometimes leave just as quickly as they came into the picture.
Uranus retrograde in the 11th House and Aquarius
Uranus’s Retrograde motion in this position may do some good, because, as mentioned before, it can help to stabilize and focus this planet, or at least keep it from being too excessive, and it’s unlikely that it will lead to significant introversion here.
Uranus’s retrograde motion in one’s birth chart is much less important than for other planets, since it’s a slow, transpersonal planet, and it’s retrograde for more than a third of the year (about 5 months).
Nevertheless, it’s useful to monitor the evolution of this retrograde motion through Progressions. Changes that occur here may not necessarily give rise to specific, noteworthy events, but they may indicate a non-negligible psychological change in how this planet’s energies are used.
