Note that in this case, we take into consideration the mean Black moon position, in my opinion, it appears to be the most meaningful in most classical cases. But keep in mind that when it comes to the Black moon we must see things with a “zonal” perspective (an area with an Orb), rather than as a fixed material point.
The Black moon enters Leo around January 9, 2023 and will leave around the beginning of October 2023, so a journey of about ten months where it will be able to underline the different solar forces ruling this sign.

Taking the risk of taking the plunge ?
The mixture between the Solar forces and those of the Black moon is always very important, since these are 2 major karmic seeds of incarnation, which mark individuality as well as fundamental destiny enormously, see in particular what I mention concerning the Triangle of incarnation.
In any case, there is always an articulation between the solar forces and the karmic factors, since they have, in a way, a joint achievement to carry out together, each of the karmic factors retroacting in a way on all the others.
Symbolically, it is very much as if this transit of the Black moon made us question our own birth solar forces, the ways in which we understand them, express them, and also how we can make them evolve or externalize them in the present, perhaps by refocusing ourselves better on certain particular points ignored or repressed until then.
If we are not really “in our solar achievement” in the present (that we are “missing out” for various reasons), this could produce for example an important search for meaning, or “existential crisis” issues that may be more prevalent, but also on the positive side to ask how to make the best use of our birth Sun from now on, how to refocus on it!
Still on the positive side, this Black moon transit could help to initiate something deeply to pertinently refocus on all of one’s fundamental goals (at least that’s the direction in which one should try to “pull” this transit as much as possible!), so don’t hesitate to ask as many questions as possible about one’s birth Sun with this type of strength, understanding better its archetype, house, aspects, 5th House, even its Progressed Sun obviously in all of it’s development, etc etc.
The interesting point being that the Fire forces will be enhanced quite a bit by this transit and over the period, as well as by Jupiter’s transit in Aries at least until mid-May 2023, energies that can obviously help a lot in terms of personal and social assertiveness, with the Black moon even being able to bring a charge of overcompensation (if in particular one has been lacking in confidence in the previous months, it can over-react on that and help to climb a step).
And in terms of timing, I think we can divide this transit of the Black moon in Leo in 2023 into two parts: from January to mid-May, then from mid-May to early October.
January to mid-May 2023: maximised strength of Fire !
The first 5 months of the year are still very interesting in terms of Fire, and they can really unlock quite a lot of things that might have remained stuck in the medium term, I’ve already talked about this in the Lunations, and the Black moon on the 1st decan of Leo being a significant asset in this sense too.
February and March are probably the most energetic months for this, with the black moon confirming the Martian dynamic which is now picking up speed after its retrograde motion (read my article on Mars retrograde in Gemini).
And these months can really make it possible to “decide/finalise” many things that have remained unresolved in the medium term, even since the spring of 2022, including a not inconsiderable “feeling of acceleration” and even obviously useful to maximise as much as possible at this period!
The Black moon can act here as a factor helping to “take the plunge” in a project or whatever it may be, to move on to something else in a more definitive way, to follow a new dynamic, even to take a totally different karmic turn in life (if, for example, one wants to retrain, to change one’s priorities in one’s individual affirmation, to follow one’s ideals, to change one’s place of life, one’s work, one’s philosophy of life, etc etc).
Do not forget either, that these months of February and March 2023 will be very important in the year, as experiencing 2 major elemental changes: the passage of Saturn into Pisces, and the passage of Pluto into Aquarius !
I will obviously have the opportunity to come back to these precise points in more depth, but what we can already retain from now on, is that such elemental changes concentrated in such a short time are clearly not insignificant!
These are changes that have a certain depth, whether in personal astrology or in mundane astrology, so this also fully participates in the reconfigurations that are taking place over the period and which can be quite “demanding and destabilising” for the personality (the 1st decans of the Fixed signs are very much in demand).
For example, from these phases, one may have to reconfigure one’s life philosophies differently, there may be realizations or cases of force majeure imposing to change one’s mind, but also allowing anyway to “move forward”, to adapt to these background elemental energies that are settling in (see again the articles I’m going to do on each of these elements, as it would be much too long to develop here).
But it may be from May onwards that the greatest “effort of adaptation” will be felt with regard to what will have germinated in February/March…
Mid-May to October 2023: significant Uranian pressure
From mid-May, Jupiter passes into Taurus for many months, joining in conjunction with the transit of Uranus, I will have the opportunity to come back to this specific Jovian transit in a dedicated article, but which implies therefore another elemental change!
The Black moon’s transit has had time to reach the middle of the Leo, 2nd decan, and it will especially begin to weigh on the increasing square of Uranus in Taurus for several months precisely.
The increasing square is an astrological aspect that by its own nature has a charge of breaking through inertia, of challenging creation, of affirmation, and it can come to stir up a lot here for Fixed signs in their needs for stability, in their comfort zone, especially the late 2nd and 3rd decans this time (this is to be noted in your mind if you are directly concerned).
I still refer you to my article on the transit of Uranus in Taurus which has been taking place since 2018, and which is very much linked by nature to a pyschological pattern of “security/freedom” duality.
This is a long term influence, and unsurprisingly, this Black moon could once again come to activate this more strongly at this time, while the transit of Jupiter will also have a “magnifying glass effect” on these points, without necessarily knowing which one to decide on, between security and independence…
On the positive side, it could be that the Black moon can allow for example an important emancipation, that it helps above all to “finalise” something in this medium-term scheme, perhaps by making us understand that we cannot have everything at the same time (security and freedom), by accepting this better, and by taking certain corresponding risks, especially towards the end of spring and the beginning of summer (but also by accepting a certain insecurity and instability).
The summer of 2023 will be marked by the Venus retrograde loop in Leo in conjunction with the black moon, I will have the opportunity to come back to this particular important astrological event which will mark especially the 3rd decan of the sign and of the Fixed signs, and which joins a symbolism of “value crisis” as well as relational and emotional reconfiguration, where black moon energies will be able to help to “cut through”.
This Venusian retrograde loop will also not be completed until late September/early October 2023, so it will still mark a large part of the end of the black moon transit in Leo…
To conclude, we can see that this transit of the Black moon in Leo is not necessarily “central” to these different months, but it touches in a more or less direct way many important forces during the year 2023! So it is not to be neglected as a triggering factor on this…
This transit brings to these different forces, so to speak, a “useful and practical side” to enable certain medium-term situations “to be cut”, which is obviously interesting to exploit in many medium-term configurations…
