The importance of birth time accuracy
To cast a precise and reliable birth chart, it is essential to work with accurate and trustworthy data.
Birth details, namely the date, time, and place of birth, constitute the raw material of the astrologer.
If these data are unreliable, then the astrologer’s work derived from them cannot be reliable either.
Please note that it is possible to perform a birth time rectification using astrological techniques.
Traditionally, the precise moment retained is that of the first breath of the newborn, considered the instant at which the individual becomes physiologically autonomous from the mother, and when the first energetic exchanges with the environment take place.
The taking of the first breath is highly symbolic, representing a first connection to life across all cultures.
In order to get as close as possible to the exactness of this moment, the date and place of birth generally pose no difficulty.
These alone already allow for the construction of a solar birth chart, which provides substantial information, as the Ascendant is then considered to be identical to the Sun sign.
However, in this case, there is only a one-in-twelve chance that it corresponds to the actual Houses, which depend on the exact birth time (or even less than 1/12 in certain cases when considering time-based house systems).
Knowing the Houses nonetheless remains of great importance and should not be overlooked when interpreting a birth chart in its full depth.
It is therefore essential to know the exact birth time, and unfortunately, there are not many ways around this.
The first and most obvious option is to consult any official administrative documents related to your civil status, particularly the family record book (although the birth time is not always listed there).
Whenever possible, I strongly recommend requesting a birth certificate directly from the town hall of your place of birth.
This document is extremely valuable, as it usually provides a fairly reliable time, although it often still requires potential rectification (see Birth Time Rectification). In addition, people are sometimes surprised to discover discrepancies, believing they were born at 10 a.m., only to find that the official record states 12 p.m.
Family testimonies should also not be overlooked. Although they require verification, parents and grandparents may remember the general time of day, daytime or nighttime, around mealtimes, and so on.
Any such information can serve as a valuable clue, helping to refine the accuracy of the birth time.
As a side note, I strongly encourage future parents to pay close attention to their child’s birth time and to record the moment of the first breath.

I am aware that all of this may seem like minor details involving relatively simple administrative procedures, but they are essential to achieving the highest possible level of reliability.
What is the point of a birth chart that is unreliable due to an incorrect birth time? None.
Even the best astrologer in the world cannot produce a reliable interpretation based on erroneous birth data.
This is a sine qua non condition for all astrological studies, the fundamental foundation itself.
If this foundation is not as precise and exact as possible, everything (absolutely everything) that follows will be distorted, regardless of the astrologer’s talent. The analysis will inevitably be flawed.
If there is uncertainty regarding the birth time (within a range of a few hours) it is sometimes possible, through extensive cross-referencing and astrological deduction, to arrive at a more precise time (see Birth Time Rectification).
However, when the uncertainty exceeds six hours or more, the reliability of rectification work becomes significantly weaker and far more complex.
Take the time to carefully reflect on the accuracy of your birth time. It’s a central and decisive element.
