This is a transit with a certain depth and slowness, since it spends approximately 14 years per sign, and can initiate profound, foundational transformations of the personality.
Neptunian energies strongly represent forces of transpersonal emotional openness, of heightened receptivity.
They can rhythmically activate important spiritual qualities, notably, significant forces of “dissolution”, mysticism, and universality.
Union of Mental Forces and Transpersonal Receptivity
There is an Air/Water blend here, a mixing of Mercurial forces with those of Neptune, which isn’t necessarily straightforward to manage, as these energies remain quite “torn apart” on certain levels.
For instance, the planet Mercury relates to the mind, logic, rationality, intellect (the brain), while Neptunian forces operate more simply through intuitive feeling (emotions that emerge from within -from the heart or belly- without particular logic, but which exist simply for what they are, even irrationally, “by faith”, through that which cannot be explained).
On the positive side, if one can draw out the best of these two forces, the result remains highly receptive, very useful, for example, for developing imagination and helping to translate it socially and relationally, notably through various creative or artistic disciplines (this could involve drawing, poetry, and so on).
The notion of “exteriorizing” the emotional world remains highly important with this transit; we are truly in a social and relational sector of the chart, and it’s essential to find a sound balance between emitting and receiving these forces.
It remains important to “put words or forms” to what is felt, even if one must step outside conventional frameworks of communication to do so.
Empathic forces are, in any case, maximized within this context (instinctive understanding of the other’s emotions).
Analogously as well, this Neptunian transit can represent learning or teaching others about a typically Neptunian discipline, so beyond artistic fields, one may encounter more spiritual disciplines : yoga, astrology, or those linked to healing (medical, psychological), devotion, charity, forgiveness, and so on…
This is a favorable placement for allowing encompassing, universalizing forces to develop; however, they can more readily create mental confusion and difficulties in managing the logistical details of practical matters.
On the challenging side, this is a transit that can also favor scattering, absentmindedness, dreaminess, idealizations, but also difficulty concretizing these forces materially (especially if there is no support from Earth forces elsewhere, whether in the birth chart or in other current Transits or Progressions).
It remains important here to monitor in parallel what the Saturn transit indicates, and to skillfully articulate it together with Neptune regarding what needs building (the Saturnian forces, in their placement, will clarify what one can lean on to translate receptive forces into the concrete and the test of present-day reality).
It’s essential to avoid excessive passivity, simply thinking, “Ah yes, I have this idea, this inspiration”, and then letting those forces drift away into abstraction, fantasy, or even escape from reality (which remains very possible here, if one retreats solely into inner sensitivity).

It’s important to contextualize this Neptunian transit within the full arc of its retrograde phases and its returns to direct motion, which can, of course, place greater emphasis on specific points in our birth chart, particularly during the stationary phases that last several weeks…
