This is a profoundly deep transit, carrying significant latency and slowness; in any case, it spends several years per sign and lingers on each aspect for multiple years, often bringing about very radical and extreme transformations, sometimes by force of circumstance.
Plutonian energies often arrive to compel a process of corrosion, of digestion; they represent an inner fire that cannot be extinguished as long as there remains anything left to burn—so this is precisely what must be encouraged during this passage.
They can rhythmically activate spiritual awakenings in the long term, but are also quite frequently correlated with forces of Mourning or with mechanisms of Depression.
Crisis of Value, Detachment, Renunciation
This is a sector of detriment for the planet in terms of generic dignities, which can clearly imply that it is not entirely at ease, and may more readily express insecurity and instability.
Do not forget that Pluto’s orbit is irregular and highly elliptical, and that Taurus is the sign where the planet moves most slowly in its transit, spending over 30 years there.

They are deeply tied here to a notion of crisis of values: they may call for reconsidering what (or whom) one assigns importance to, and for gaining clearer insight into “why” this is so.
Why, for instance, do we reproduce certain patterns of attachment ? (including in what may sometimes be toxic about them)
Or why do we experience such difficulty in attaching ourselves and affirming our worth ? Or in allowing another to attach themselves to us ? And so on.
It is certain that this is not necessarily a transit that guarantees stability and security, especially because, in a sense, it comes to “test things”, to see what is solid over time and can endure, or to see what must be relinquished as values, as resources, and so on.
The difficulty here may be that one resists change, clings to the past, holding on in an attempt to preserve what can be preserved in one’s destiny, both materially and affectively, out of fear of loss, of lack, of being dispossessed.
Sometimes I have encountered clients who, during this transit, experienced a major fire destroying their home, or an unforeseen, sudden event linked to fate, something that takes or removes, but which compels a powerful sorting of one’s life in view of reconstruction (with a clean-slate, scorched-earth effect).
The notion of “sorting” can be truly quite central with these Plutonian influences, for ultimately reclaiming greater power over one’s life, over one’s destiny.
If certain things no longer serve the evolution of the present, why keep them ? Is it simply out of habit ? Out of comfort ? Out of fear of change ?
Could we not reconsider our sense of belonging and our possessions differently ? Perhaps by integrating a dose of the Absolute, aiming toward that which is more immutable, transcendent, within a galvanizing inner richness…
Here, the sorting being called for also implies a sense of purification: it is not simply a matter of knowing how to renounce, one must also know how to cleanse what has become corrupted.
Another symbolic interpretation of this Plutonian transit may also concern the purely professional sphere: either the transformative charge arrives by and through one’s work (here too, perhaps with a layoff or some event compelling a career shift), or one is called to draw closer to an activity that is purely Plutonian in nature for earning income (this could be linked to investigation and analysis, psychology, the esoteric, criminology, or death, see the many possible Plutonian analogies).
A transit of retrograde Pluto in the 2nd House or in Taurus may represent a slower, more laborious period for the planet in its effects, it will feel more subdued and placid.
